Missoula Bone & Joint’s new 33,000 square foot ambulatory surgery center will not only add amenities for patients and staff, it will also front the sites most visible edge, becoming the new face of an existing medical campus. As such, considerations have been made to maintain the campus’ visual identity with a compatible material pallet while also creating a modern form inspired by orthopedics. A series of floating planes wrap corners like skin and muscles over bones, in both exterior and interior detailing, while prosthetic inspired columns articulate the pedestrian access on the west side and porte-cochere of the north. The interior takes on a spa like atmosphere where large windows and high ceilings ensure plenty of natural light for both patients and staff. Amenities include a larger surgery capacity, more generous locker rooms, sky lit pre-operative rooms, as well as 23hr recovery suites, with private bathrooms, art glass accents, and the latest in medical technology.
