laThe UM Research Labs sits in a part of campus surrounded by mid-century modern to currently built structures. It was designed for use by both the School of Forestry and the Division of Biological Studies. Extensive programming and building requirements were developed with both schools to meet the specific needs of the researchers. An abbreviated time frame for design and a restricted budget required honest use of materials and exposed structure and systems. The building is designed to accept two additional floors.
