THE REED CONDOS
Missoula, Montana
The design intent is to celebrate place, seizing the astounding views of Missoula and the Clark Fork River while being conscious of the City fabric. Simultaneous with increasing housing density, the building pays homage to the historic homes in the area through materiality and a public walkway with interpretive signage to celebrate the past. The extensive use of brick brings context to downtown and historic Missoula.
The buildings sit on top of an underground parking garage, with green roofs and gathering areas filling the space between the buildings and alley at the entry level. The main building is four stories of wood construction with a mix of one-bedroom through three-bedroom units. The smaller structure is two stories with a total of 8 modest studio and 1-bedroom units, providing affordable housing in a prime location. In total, the combined structures contain 48 residential units.
